Web Design for ROI Review
Posted by Tim Frick in Books, Design, Development, Programming, Web Design
Web Design for ROI by Lance Loveday and Sandra Niehaus contains a bevy of smart tips for designers to get the most out of building user-friendly web experiences, especially those with a commerce element to them. The book often focuses more on the question of why rather than how, which is great for those who may not have a lot of experience designing web applications and need to get a general understanding of approach.
Designers will appreciate the detailed suggestions for creating effective landing pages, forms, and easy-to-understand shopping cart experiences while marketers and business owners will get a lot out of the chapters on strategy, goals and metrics assessment. Sidebars peppered throughout the narrative give readers very specific techniques to follow on topics as wide-ranging as multivariate testing and scenario reviews. Hundreds of full-color diagrams, site screen grabs and statistic charts also break up the text and provide valuable visual references to concepts discussed in the text.
If you’re a developer you might find the book a little light on specific coding techniques, but its broader approach could definitely help efforts to get everybody on your team adopting the same philosophy and approach to creating websites that will pay for themselves.
