Our Climate

Certified B Corps make meaningful commitments and measurable progress over time on climate action. Mightybytes has made sustainability and climate action a priority since 2012. Details on how we comply with these new performance requirements are below.

New B Corp standards differ from company to company based on a variety of criteria, including company size, location, and revenue. The standards below reflect those required for a small service business with a minor environmental footprint.  

The Climate Action Impact Topic is designed to accelerate measurable progress so that companies meaningfully contribute to limiting global warming to 1.5°C and to achieving global net-zero GHG emissions by 2050.

Climate

Action Plan

Under the new standards, companies are expected to create and manage a comprehensive climate action plan aligned with science-based targets for reducing company emissions across scopes 1, 2, and 3.

CA2.1: The company has a publicly available climate action plan.

2.1.1 The company publishes its climate action plan on its webpage or has another way for stakeholders to easily access it.

2.1.2 The company’s action plan:

  1. commits to supporting the global ambition to limit global warming to 1.5°C
  2. includes specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) targets for performance and impact
  3. specifies how the company will allocate human, technical, and material resources for implementation
  4. outlines how the company will engage and work with stakeholders
  5. is approved by the highest governing body.

2.1.3 The company updates its action plan every three years.

Mightybytes’ climate action plan includes a variety of strategic and operational initiatives to align our sales, finances, partnerships, and operations with clear goals to meet the Climate Action Performance Requirements of the new B Corp Standards.

In addition to creating a climate action plan, companies are expected to make progress over time on science-based climate action goals.

CA3.3: The company makes progress on its climate action plan and evaluates its effectiveness

CA3.3.1 The company records its progress against its climate action plan.

CA3.3.2 The company:

  • Takes actions with the latest version of its climate action plan
  • Reviews and updates its targets where necessary

CA3.3.3 Where the climate action plan was ineffective, the company evaluates the plan and records: 

  • What lessons it has learned
  • What it plans to do differently
  • How it has updated it action plan

Climate Actions Taken

Here’s how Mightybytes makes progress on climate action over time.

  1. Strategic: Mightybytes has defined SMARTIE goals as outlined in our Climate Action Plan.
  2. Operational: The company strives to improve alignment between operational realities and its climate action plan. Examples:
    • Emissions: The company conducts annual emissions audits, reports on its impact, and offsets what it can’t reduce using responsible, verified partners.
    • Products & Services: The company continuously improves its product and service offerings to better align with its Climate Action Plan and emerging industry best practices, such as W3C’s Web Sustainability Guidelines (WSGs).
    • Policy: The company signs petitions, supports climate action-related bills, and has met with legislators multiple times to help educate them on the issues.
    • Procurement & Partnerships: Mightybytes follows responsible procurement and partnership policies to ensure our supply chain is values-aligned. Read our Supplier Code of Conduct for more information.
  3. Financial: The company conducts some of its banking with a partner that has divested from fossil fuels and is working toward more responsible banking practices overall.
  4. Business Development: We actively pursue values-aligned clients who share our commitment to meaningful climate action.
