Turnstone Furniture

Turnstone, a division of Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Steelcase Furniture, is a modern furniture company with a unique culture and brand for tech-enabled mobility. They create sleek and modular expandable furniture made partially from recycled materials, a natural fit for Mightybytes’ new office. When we made the decision to outfit our new space with Turnstone products, they asked us to document the process on video and track our experience using their new website and online ordering system.

OUR APPROACH

To truly glean valuable information from our customer experience, we recorded every step of the process, from screen captures of ordering products online to configuring our workspaces within the office, delivery, and installation of actual product. Then we interviewed team members on what the furniture meant for Mightybytes and how the newly configured space would increase productivity and support our creative, collaborative process.

IMPLEMENTATION

Our deliverables included a finished video with animation, staff interviews, and various shots of us configuring and installing workstations. We also included detailed user testing documents wherein we made recommendations on improving ordering processes and increasing site usability.

Production techniques used:

• 1080P HD video shot on a Sony PMW-EX1 camcorder
• Edited in Final Cut Pro
• Motion Graphics in After Effects
• Music By: Terrible Spaceship

The video ended up on both Mightybytes’ and Turnstone’s YouTube channels as well as on our respective websites. We wrote a blog post on the process as well.

THE RETURN

Both parties benefitted from this collaborative project in that we each posted the content across our respective social networks based on a mutually agreed upon strategy, thereby increasing exposure for each company. Turnstone also featured our customer story prominently on their new website and in email newsletters.
