Inspiring kids to rock on stage and in life, School of Rock is the nation’s premier rock music education company with classes, camps, and individual instruction focused on teaching kids how to sing, play guitar, drums, keyboards, and bass guitar.
The company turned to Mightybytes for an overhaul of their existing corporate website and for the creation of a microsite template that could be rolled out to over 75 national and global franchise locations. Mightybytes made it possible for all of those sites to live within a single domain, where they’re powered by a single, central database.
Discovery played a significant role in the success of this project. We provided consultation to the School of Rock team on best practices in the areas of online business strategy, email marketing, social media strategy, content strategy and analytics and measurement in addition to helping them execute a powerful design that could serve the needs of both the national office and 75 franchise locations in a simple, scalable, multi-lingual design.
Extensive wireframing, sitemaps, and user task flows helped define critical website functionality and streamlined the process of organizing content from dozens of authors located around the world. Defining content types and navigational hierarchy also clarified important questions that arose during the content development and design and development processes.
One of the new website’s most robust features is giving site administrators the ability to quickly add a new franchise location simply by adjusting a few settings. If Duluth, Minnesota signs on as a franchisee, for example, a Duluth-specific microsite can be launched within a few minutes, with minimal effort and no technical expertise. Existing corporate-vetted content and guidelines for new content creation are included in the franchise owner interface, vastly simplifying the process of getting a new location up and running quickly.
At launch, the website included custom event management tools and photo gallery management tools for corporate and franchisee sites; support for video libraries and other media; a locate a school near you finder tool; and a custom Salesforce integration. A visually rich GUI (graphical user interface) helped site admins easily accomplish tasks that were previously complex. Support for multiple languages help global franchise owners reach their customers effectively.
The School of Rock site saw a 73% increase in new visitors within the first two weeks of launch.
