OUR APPROACH
Our strategy with Music Dealers fostered a web presence that encourages up-and-coming artists to upload their music and become a part of the Music Dealers team while music supervisors and agencies peruse their catalog of thousands of songs for licensing opportunities. Mightybytes’ approach to information architecture, design and user-interface helped bring in these artists, which helped Music Dealers develop a better catalog and land consistent placements. The placements gave Music Dealers the leverage to approach bigger music supervisors with bigger budgets.

IMPLEMENTATION
During the project, Mightybytes was Music Dealers’ exclusive vendor for:
- Information architecture and user experience
- Interface design
- Site and application development
- Testing, debugging, and quality assurance
We built an extensive set of features and functions that allow Music Dealers account holders to create profiles, search licensing opportunities, upload songs, and build, share or download playlists. We also developed a custom Discovery Tool to perform advanced searches on tens of thousands of songs based on genres, moods, occasions, BPM, and many other parameters.
THE RETURN
In the first six months the site was live, it boasted a 30% increase in unique visits with an average time spent on-site of over 10 minutes. Proportionate to this performance is the number of music placement opportunities in the first year. In May of 2009, when Music Dealers posted a music licensing opportunity they typically received about 100 to 200 submissions in 24 hrs. When we handed over the keys mid-2010, the site was averaging about 600 to 1,000 submissions per 24 hrs. When the site launched, it had 1,500 users and a catalog of 6,000 songs. By mid-2010 the site supported nearly 10,000 users and a catalog of over 87,000 songs. The site regularly receives numerous music posts and averages 150 to 200 placement opportunities per month, resulting in significant increases in revenue for the client.
