Illinois Asset Building Group
The State of Illinois gets a great new resource for fighting poverty.
Illinois Asset Building Group (IABG), a division of Heartland Alliance, is a statewide coalition invested in building the stability and strength of Illinois communities through increased asset ownership and asset protection. The IABG team came to Mightybytes to help them create a digital strategy and build a successful web presence.
OUR APPROACH
We started off our relationship with IABG by offering a one-day seminar on content strategy, social media, and digital marketing. This provided a great stepping stone for helping their team understand the possibilities of what could be accomplished with a new content-managed website. From there we began our standard discovery process of defining user roles, needs, brand objectives, and so on.
IMPLEMENTATION
The design and development teams tag teamed production of this website to be sure specs were maintained and that design integrity remained consistent with the client’s vision throughout development.
UX and Design
- The IABG website’s interaction was designed via wireframes. Iterations were annotated for version control and to note functionality.
- Mightybytes helped design email templates to integrate with IABG’s third party vendor for newsletters, calls-to-action, and marketing.
- Our design process re-conceptualized IABG’s branding, bringing new depth to the logo, building a new color palette and creating a richer, welcoming design for all users of the site.
Development
The site was built in Drupal 7 and offers the following features:
- Content management system to accommodate publishing needs of the organization
- Customizable carousel to feature initiatives and programming
- A robust Resources section that addresses content needs not met by the previous website
- Blog
- Display of partner organizations
- “Take Action” content items that prompt users to get involved with IABG via campaigns, letter writing, more.
THE RETURN
Here are some key advantages the site provides to IABG:
- The site is designed to scale up as IABG grows its resources for managing and publishing content.
- Adding resources by program or topic will allow site users to get to items they need easily and quickly.
