The web dashboard we created for Collaborative Learning’s Instruction Planner software makes curriculum mapping a breeze for teachers and educators.
Founded in 1999, Collaborative Learning, Inc. is the leading company in productivity software enabling schools to plan, monitor, and analyze instruction and curriculum with benchmarks and standards. They asked us to design and implement a dashboard front end to Instruction Planner, their web-based productivity tool.
OUR APPROACH
Instruction Planner helps teachers plan instruction units, correlate those units to state educational standards, and track what was actually taught in the classroom. In order to best identify potential hiccups in user experience we devised a comprehensive project plan that included several rounds of wireframes, user task flow documents, design comps, and internal testing.
IMPLEMENTATION
Once the user experience was clearly defined via wireframes and user task flows, we created several rounds of design comps for a single web-based dashboard with these features:
- Allows teachers and admins to view daily lesson plans, reports, curriculum maps, announcements, and resources
- Users can view full content within the Instruction Planner system
- Users can create profiles that allow validation of account information
THE RETURN
Teachers now have an easier and more efficient way to plan and archive their instruction plans in compliance with state educational standards and we continue to work with Collaborative Learning on improving the usability of their product line.
