Educating kids on the importance of environmental sciences is at the heart of this DVD created for the Chicago Botanic Garden.
The Chicago Botanic Garden opened in 1972 with a mission that encompasses three important components: collections, education, and research. This project helps fulfill the education component.
OUR APPROACH
The Chicago Botanic Garden (CBG) team approached us to create an educational environmental sciences DVD that would accompany a textbook training guide for schools in urban areas. We worked with the CBG crew to develop a production schedule that would accommodate the project’s needs but also be timed with the release of the textbook product in time for the upcoming school year. While CBG provided an initial script, we helped them finesse the script into a more natural and conversational tone while still providing all important critical education components.
IMPLEMENTATION
We conducted the entire process of making the DVD, from pre-production to the final DVD authoring, including:
- An onsite video shoot
- Editing
- Color correction
- Audio sweetening
- Graphics production and animation
We also consulted with CBG on the DVD packaging, technical specifications, and system requirements for playing the DVD.
THE RETURN
The Chicago Botanic Garden bundled our DVD with their textbook and this winning combination has taught kids in classrooms everywhere important lessons on ecology, soil conservation, and other environmental science topics.
