Along with donation and ticket sales integration, Chicago a cappella's revamped site features a new logo and provides dozens of audio samples and video clips.

Founded in 1993 by Artistic Director Jonathan Miller, Chicago a cappella is one of the area’s most accomplished and innovative vocal ensembles. Spanning a repertoire from the Gregorian chant to the Beatles and beyond, the group has performed over 150 concerts in the Chicago area as well as tour appearances in 11 states and Mexico. They asked us to revamp their website and boost their brand identity with a new look and logo.

OUR APPROACH

Chicago a capella is a fun and lively group of people, a fact embodied by many photographs the ensemble provided to us at project outset, several of which are featured prominently on the new site. The group wears a standard wardrobe of red and black for their performances, so we extended this palette to both the website and new logo, which combines modern typography with classic-style colors to bring together a renewed, sophisticated brand for the group.

IMPLEMENTATION

Our work for Chicago a cappella included the creation of a new logo mark as mentioned above, and an Expression Engine-driven site redesign with dozens of audio samples, video clips, and eTapestry integration for donations and ticket sales. Contextual sub-menus allow for deep exploration of the group’s members, their sponsors, involvement in the arts, and so on.

THE RETURN

Conversion rates are increased by clear calls-to-action on every page and the prominent inclusion of donate, buy tickets, and get email updates buttons in the header navigation. The ensemble keeps its site regularly updated with keyword-rich copy, which helps drive search engine traffic as well.
