H26-whatever.

I was looking at the details and specs provided to us by one of our clients for a new project the other day and noticed something that made me want to dance in the streets. That’s somewhat rare for me. Not the dancing in the streets part, that seems to happen all the time. The fact that the specs for a new job got me to put on my dancing shoes though, that was something special. Worth blogging about even.

Without getting into too many of the mind-numbing technical details, the basic word from the client was that the very large animation they wanted could be delivered either as a flash executable (which is what they had always asked for in the past) or it could be provided as an H264. That was new. Hence, the fancy footwork on the boulevard.

I can hear the collective sigh now; “What’s the big deal? H26-whatever. Let’s go shopping.” And I hear you, I do. I could really use some new sneakers. It is kind of a big deal that they will accept H264s, though, and I’ll tell you why.
