Chicago Artists Month
by Stacy
Take a closer look at art and artists in Chicago by joining the festivities of Chicago Artists Month, sponsored by the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. This year’s theme is Chicago Artists Month 2.0, referring to Web 2.0 and highlighting the ways artists interact via technology to engage audiences, distribute their work, relate with each other, and share knowledge. Check out the featured artists, social media links, and October calendar of events on the CAM site. Highlights include open houses and studios, art walks, and over 200 events in locations around the city. Some of the featured artists exhibitions include ‘Art on Track’ where artist “Salvo converts an 8-car CTA train into the world’s largest mobile art gallery and transforms the Loop into a corridor of entertainment and culture.”
Throughout October, we’ll feature some of these highlights of art and technology working in tandem on our blog. While most of our own work constitutes a commercial application of art and design, a key part of our process is having a good artistic background and understanding creative expression in its many forms. So we’ll also share some one-on-one interviews with our team here and the creative endeavors they enjoy outside the office too. Though many of us have a natural inclination toward the geeky, at the end of the day what gets us going is good art—visual, aural, interactive or otherwise. What kind of art gets you going?
